Is Anyone Else Scared?
Does it scare anyone else that we are now living in a political climate where we are even DISCUSSING the possibility of forcing women to carry pregnancies caused by rape to term? It feels like we have retrograded decades, and I am starting to have nightmares about what life would be like if Romney wins.
Please, to all who benefit from the reproductive rights we have thus far, consider where they came from. Consider who fought tooth and nail for you to be able to get free condoms at Planned Parenthood, or the morning after pill, or even abortions. Because ladies, 1 in 3 of us will have had an abortion by the time we reach 45. And gentlemen, 1 in 3 of your friends/lovers/mothers/sisters will have one, probably saving you from responsibility you won’t be ready for at the time.
Reproductive choice is very quickly becoming a privilege, not a right. Don’t take for granted the privileges you have right now. Do something. Use your vote, your voice, and your reproductive choice!
To educate yourself on the reproductive rights stance of the senators in your state, check out Planned Parenthood’s Score Card and Voter Guide. It’s sad to see just how few states are 100% pro-choice (just four) and how many are 100% anti-choice. Make sure you know who you need to vote for this November.
