Pro Woman, Pro Child, PRO CHOICE

So for my project I took two different sets of photos. First, I took the “I Stand With Planned Parenthood” ones, but then I wanted to do a different set, this one saying: Pro Woman, Pro Child, Pro Choice.

The point of this was to emphasize the fact that no one is pro-abortion. I hate abortion. I hate that women need it, that not enough women have access to or education around contraception so that they need abortions. I hate that contraception doesn’t always work so that women need abortions. I hate that these women have to make such a difficult decision. I hate that they have to try and find a clinic near them (which is often not possible, considering that 87% of counties in the US have an abortion clinic), or travel a long distance to them, where they sit hours in clinics, filling out paperwork, somehow finding a way to pay for this expensive procedure. I hate that these women are often harassed outside of the clinic, shamed and made even more uncomfortable than they already are.

But abortions do need to exist. They do.

So, these signs mean to me:

Pro Woman: because ultimately it is her life. Her body.

Pro Child: because perhaps allowing this pregnancy to go to term, and having a child isn’t what’s best for the child. Maybe the woman cannot financially or emotionally care for it.

Pro Choice: because it’s a choice that only a woman can make.
