Tim Wise
In an effort to continue my new campaign to get us talking about white privilege, I wanted to introduce you to one of the leading experts on the subject: Tim Wise.
I was introduced to Tim Wise in high school, by my favorite teacher in high school. She was my mentor, and the
person who got me interested in whiteness in the first place. Tim Wise is a writer, speaker, activist, who talks about white privilege and racism. He’s very well known, and has written lots of books, and been on tv and radio all over the place. Check out his website here.
I’m sharing him with you because I don’t think that white people have any great examples in the media of what it means to be a conscious, white ally. Though we have tons and tons of examples of whiteness in the media (too many) no one really talks about the privilege inherent in that. Enter Tim Wise.
